Water directions:
Almshouse Creek ( 38° 56.460 N; 76° 32.825 W ):
After entering South River, continue up-river from red flashing “4” about 4 nm, then turn left BEFORE green flashing “15” into Almshouse Creek.  The entrance is wide and deep.  Call “Back Creek Yacht Club” on Channel 72 for rafting directions.  BCYC plans 2 or 3 rafts (depending on the number of boats) to be anchored safe distances from the fireworks.  Some dockage may be available.  We won’t be the only ones arriving by water: as the afternoon and evening wear on, expect more boats to arrive and either anchor or just mill about.

Land Directions:
Cindy & Westbrook Murphy,
400 Fairlea Drive Edgewater, MD. 21037, Ph. 410-956-1756

  •  From the direction of Annapolis: Take Solomons Island Road (MD Route 2) South across the South River bridge.  After the bridge, turn left (opposite Lee Airport) onto Mayo Road (MD Route 253).
  • From the South: Take Solomons Island Road (MD Route 2) to about ¾ miles north of Central Avenue (MD Route 214).  Opposite Lee Airport, turn right onto Mayo Road (MD Route 253).
  • Then: Once on Mayo Road, turn left at first stoplight onto Washington Road. Bear left at fork onto Holly Road.  In four blocks, turn right on Fairlea Drive.  In two blocks, make a U-turn and park next to the brick fence.  Walk around the corner to the driveway for 400.  Other neighbors also are having parties, so parking won’t be available any closer.
