Formadore's Golf Outing

Four former BCYC Commodores took time from their “busy” schedules to play some December golf in Stuart, FL. They ‘braved’ 80° temperatures (hence the coral shorts) for a very enjoyable day.

Annual Meeting

BCYC Members gathered at the Yellow Fin Steak & Seafood House on Sunday October 2nd for the 2022 Annual Meeting. The meeting was preceded by our Annual Silent Auction organized by Eileen Smith. The auction was a tremendous success, featuring get aways to members vacation spots, coupons to local restaurants, and spirits! Many thanks to all of the BCYC Members that contributed the offerings and the bidders! Our out-going Commodore Tim Feldmann conducted the meeting which included reports from the BCYC Bridge on 2022 and election of Officers and Board Members for 2023. 2020/2020 Past Commodore Tom Bernhart was presented with his official Past Commodore plaque. Members Gail & Bob Higginbotham were presented with the 2022 Gypsy Joe Hargenrather Spirit Award.

Labor Day Cruise

For the Labor Day Weekend, Bak-yakers cruised to Lankford Bay Marina on the Chester River. On Saturday evening, Madi and John Yates arranged for a catered Happy Hour and Dinner at the Rock Hall Yacht Club, a short walk from the marina. On Sunday, members gathered for the re-naming of Gail and Bob Higginbotham's new Friendship. The featured event was our Annual Crab Feast, hosted by Tim Feldmann and Jae Hamilton. Weather was spectacular. Crabs were BIG and Plentiful!!!

Oxford Log Canoe Races

On August 12th, Bak-yakers descended upon Oxford by land & sea for the Annual Log Canoe Races. Festivities began with a Friday night dinner at Capsize OXMD. Saturday brought gorgeous weather with ample wind for the races. Bak-yakers and guests viewed the races from Town Park and along the Tred Avon up to Town Creek. Saturday's Italian Dinner was catered by Pope's Tavern under the tent at the Safe Harbor Oxford Marina.

Wye River Raft-Up

On July 16th, Richard and Michelle Sanger hosted a Raft-Up on the Wye River at their favorite spot just past Pickering Creek. Seven boats and 17 crew joined in the fun with dinghies, kayaks and SUPs. A few ventured in between the nettles that are starting to show up in our local creeks. Chef Richard treated the crew to huge hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings. Storms circled the area for a bit but a peaceful evening was had by all.

Ice Cream Social

On July 13th, Peggy & Terry Slattery hosted BCYC's first ever Ice Cream Social in their fabulous pool house on Whitehall Creek. Members brought an assortment of ice cream, toppings, and desserts to share. Terry assembled their antique hand churn and a wonderful home made vanilla to top off the evening. BCYC Commodores (past & present) to the turn at the churn.

BCYC 2022 Annual Lobster Feast

BCYC's Annual Lobster Feast and Flip, Flop & Drop Breakfast was held once again at Molly Stone's on Crab Creek, 18-19 June 2022.  Norm Render picked up the reigns to host this signature event.  With the closing of the Annapolis Seafood Company, Norm searched high and low to find a vendor to supply the lobsters.  Locating Angels in Pasadena, the event came off without a hitch and the lobsters and fixins' were over the top!!!  Sunday's Flip, Flop and Drop breakfast was once again hosted by Ben and Candy Wilson, with Chefs Richard Sanger, Norm Render, and Terry Bidnick keeping the omelets light and airborne.  We also celebrated Ben Wilson's birthday.

BCYC 2022 Annual Cruise

BCYC's Annual Cruise began with kick-off Happy Hour at the Bay Bridge Marina on May 28th and concluded with a Shrimp Feast at Spring Cove Marina in Solomons Island. Interim stops included St. Michaels and raft-ups on the Wye River and Little Choptank. Many thanks to the volunteer hosts that organized the meals and Happy Hours along the way!!!

On May 7th BCYC members gathered at The Clubhouse at Oyster Cove to formally welcome 2022 Commodore Timothy Feldmann and Flag Officers at a festive evening of fine dining and disco dancing. The evening began with a cocktail hour followed by a three-course dinner provided by Garden and Garnish, the annual change of watch ceremony, and concluding with disco dancing to music provided by DJ Rich Litchy. Richard and Michelle Sanger graciously arranged for us to use the Clubhouse at Oyster Cove. Past Commodore Terry Bidnick was the evening's emcee. The event was organized and hosted by Gail Higginbotham and Madi Yates.

BCYC South "Lucky Lucky" Happy Hour and Dinner

On April 10th, Howard and Jackie Mason hosted 25 Bak-yakers on-board their new boat "Lucky Lucky" at Sunset Bay Marina and Anchorage in Stuart, FL. Following Happy Hour, the group adjourned for a sunset dinner at Sailors Return on premises.

St Patrick's Day South

On March 17rd, Ben and Candy Wilson hosted their annual BCYC South St. Patrick's Day Party at their home in Traditions, FL. A traditional Irish Feast was served followed by a Jenga Game competition. Bill Kranzer was awarded the fabulous prize of a bottle of Jameson.

On March 16th, nine former BCYC Commodores and Commordables took part in a 9 hole Scramble golf outing at Sailfish Sands GC in Stuart, FL. From l-r Harriet Lytle, Bob Higginbotham, Jamie Ritter, Gail Higginbotham, Bill Falk, Colin Soucy, Madi Yates, Karen Kranzer, John Yates, Bill Kranzer, Pam Loving, John Loving, Ben Wilson. BCYC South Pool Party

On March 3rd, Sheila and Homer Martin hosted a pool party at their new home in Vero Beach FL. Some took the plunge, some stuck a toe in the water, and all enjoyed the scrumptuous food catered by Wild Thyme. Sheila made sure there were plenty of valuable prizes.

BCYC South Beach Day

On February 24th, Gail Higginbotham hosted a beach day at Stuart Beach.  The weather was perfect with a light breeze off the ocean.  Bak-yakers enjoyed lunch from the Seaside Cafe operated by Martin County.  The wait was a bit long but being on the water made us all hungry.

Smashing Grapes Wine Dinner

On February 21st, Tim Feldmann & Jae Hamilton hosted a wine-pairing dinner at Smashing Grapes in Annapolis. The food and wine were paired perfectly and it all was delicious! Something we must repeat when the Southern members return this summer.

BCYC Chili Cook Off 2022

In preparation for Super Bowl, on February 13th, Tim Feldmann & Jae Hamilton hosted a Chili Cook Off at the Epping Forest Club House.  It was a HEATED competition, with a valuable Chef’s hat going to the winner!!!

BCYC South Winter Celebration

On February 4th, Pam & John Loving hosted the BCYC South Winter Celebration in their wonderful club house on the St. Lucie River. 27 Bak-Yakers shared their fantastic appetizers, including Vicki Moon's stuffed olive penguins!!! Dinner was a scrumptous array of BBQ and fixins from several different local providers and delicious desserts.

Chinese New Year Zoom Dinner

On January 30th, Molly Stone and Patti Bartlett hosted a Chinese New Year Dinner on Zoom. Bak-Yakers ordered their favorite Chinese carryout. Participants Zoomed in from Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, and Florida. Molly had the group learn their Zodiac sign and shared the characteristics of each. Patti Bartlett led the group on a Chinese themed trivia quiz.

BCYC South Talk House HH

On January 27th, BCYC South returned to the Talk House Speak Easy in Stuart FL. Our bartender Olivia was fantastic!!! Valuable prizes were awarded for guessing the number of corks. Homer Martin won 1st prize!!!

BCYC South Dune Dog Happy Hour

Vicki Moon and Bob Brown hosted the first BCYC South Happy Hour event for 2022 at the Dune Dog in Stuart FL. In keeping with the tradition of "valuable prizes", Vicki prepared a glass vase filled with hot dog candies and a hot dog ornament. Richard Sanger won with the closest guess to the quantity of dogs.

New Year Bloody Mary PJ Zoom

BCYC opened the year with a PJ Zoom Event. Jerry Chappell shared his favorite Bloody Mary recipe. Bak-Yakers wore their favorite PJs and shared their plans for the New Year.
